From IOZ:
When someone says that the drug war is a failure because instead of stopping drug use, it destabilizes narco-producing regions of the world, brutalizes the underclass, perpetuates inequality, and foments the expansion of the police-prison state, then that person has mistaken a slogan for a product
He seems to believe that this level of idiocy is not explicable via incompetence. My estimate of incompetence's power is MUCH higher than his.

Any time that emotion replaces analysis, the unintended consequences of incompetence are the result. Public or private sector, individuals or groups, passion trumps reason, and asshattery is the result. And we all have stories to illustrate this point, don't we?

So is it your opinion that the politicians/bureaucrats responsible for the drug war see benefit, harm or nothing from the persecution and perpetuation of these policies?
