Atlas Shrugged Movie

I went to see it last night on a very rare date with my wife.
Observations:

  1. No one in the theater.
  2. I thought Rearden was the best done "good" character.
  3. After the reviews, I was expecting a bad Francisco. He wasn't magnificent like I want Francisco to be, but he was much better than I was expecting.
  4. The bridge was gorgeous.
  5. I liked the modern update/spin -- thought: if it were redone again, it could be done with a space elevator
  6. I think the portrait of the politicians / political businessmen was fabulous.
  7. I think they worked hard to make folks who look like politicians. Really nice.
  8. My image of James Taggart was older, closer to Orren Boyle.
  9. I read a lot of criticism beforehand, I don't find most of it persuasive.
  10. I'm not a movie buff (only adult move I've seen in theaters in 3-5 years?)
  11. Acting was not fabulous, but tolerable, mostly.
  12. I read the book more than once, and have an awful good memory of it.
Seems as if Patri went to see it last night as well.

1. 20 People in the theater, last week the line at the arts theater was around the block - glad I waited.
2.Agreed.
3.Fransisco was "meh" not impressed.
4. Word.
5.The updated/modern spin was much better than expected. The 1957 version would be unworkable unless you set it in some sort of alt-history.
6. Agreed
7.Yeah, I swear Mouch looks just like Tip O'Neill.
8.Again agreed, James Taggart should be older.
9. Duh.
10. I think the last adult movie I saw was Serenity.
11. Schilling (Dagny) was pretty good. She's not quite skinny/angular enough, and I NEVER envisioned Dagny as a blond, but I thought she did quite well. Beckel (Wyatt) was damn good I thought.
12. You read faster than I do; I've only read it once.
