Photophobia bleg

Does anyone have experience with nutritional remedies to apparently genetic photophobia? Unsurprising to my readers, I know, but I am apparently a vampire...or at least have vampire eyes.

There are exactly zero pictures of me that are both outside in the sun and not squinting hard/tearing in the bright light. Pictures when I was 4-5 have the one-eye mostly closed, other eye scrunched look...and pictures at 39 do too...unless I'm actively trying to not do that, in which case I'm tearing up hard after the picture...or wearing both hat and sunglasses (constant since 14). My 5yo son has exactly the same issue. Bright light (sunlight) hurts.

While this was unpleasant when I was a whipper-snapper...as an adult, I'm also finding that my photophobia substantially decreases my ability to drive at night, which I've historically done a lot of. So I figured that there's some smart folks on reading the blog, and someone might know something.

FWIW, my Google Fu is above average, and so I'm mostly asking for either more first-hand information, or specific research that I'd not find in a first half-hour of snooping. (Wear wide-brimmed hats, and sunglasses...try eating greens, and supplement with lutein and zeaxanthin).
