Conservativism vs. Leftism

Conservativism holds that the stable traditions we have, including respect for authority are usually the combined wisdom of the ages, and ought be respected.
Leftism holds that the stable traditions we have, including respect for authority, are often nefarious tools of social control by which elites disempower the masses.

Both are often right.

I actually think that both the conservative and leftist would agree that both those propositions are often correct.

I think the real difference is that the leftist believes that he can discern which traditions are malicious and which are beneficial.

The conservative, on the other hand, believes that it is difficult or impossible for us to know what all the consequences of eliminating a specific tradition or set of traditions will be.

It looks to me like Leftist want to set up new and improved traditions so they can wield their own brand of nefarious social control over the masses.

I find Leftist to be far more tyrannical than Conservatives. The Left is more politically attuned, which seems to carry the day in the modern world.
