QoTD -- Power edition

Illka quotes his finnish friend:
The essential difference between the nuclear power and the coal power is that if the worst possible disaster takes place in a nuclear plant, it will create about as much pollution as the equal coal plant when it functions normally.
This is especially interesting, given that for price-efficient electricity, there are exactly 2 choices: Coal, and Nuclear. 20 years from now, we expect to see solar in there. But now? 2.

An easy way to prevent fixed sporting events would be to allow gambling on women's matches only. It's impossible to even imagine female players to co-operate to create the desired final score. And even if you could somehow achieve this, even more impossible would be to have them to keep quiet about it.

Would nuclear even be an option without the huge government subsidies? Perhaps the subsidies balance out the regulation, but we may never know. Too bad.

Tangent: My first car was electric and since most of the electricity in that location was nuclear generated I had a "pro-nuke" bumper sticker on my car. (It said something like "One nuke saves enough fuel for X# cars") All my friends called my car "Nuke".
