Barefoot shoe update

After giving up on the softstar runamoc as not being a durable enough barefoot shoe for work (mostly, they wore out after hard use for several months), I decided to try the Vivobarefoot Ra.  The first day I wore it, I got a sore back of the foot, as per new stiff shoes, and I didn't wear it again for another month or two.  Then my runamocs developed holes in the toes, and I was forced to switch.  I've been wearing the Ra's now for a couple-three months, and have been only moderately happy with them.  And then today, I pulled the insoles out from them.  Turns out they're great barefoot shoes, and it's mostly me that sucks.  They're not as nice to walk in as the runamocs, but they also appear to have a greater than 6 month lifespan, given regular wearing.

I tried barefoot running the last time the theory was popular in the late 1980s.

Of course in those days we were lucky to have the price of a cup of tea. A cup of cold tea. In a cracked ...

Ahem. What I mean to say is that I did it old school. Barefoot running without shoes.

The result was: After three years of running 3-4 times per week, I was absolutely hopeless at running and had horrible style. I was slightly better than when I started, but I gave up and found something better to do with my time.

On the other hand, I remember finding a big (5x10 mm) chunk of broken glass embedded in my foot, and I hadn't even noticed it was there until I cut my finger on it while washing my feet in the shower. I pulled it out, no blood, just thick calluses.
