Falkenstein:
You just have to stop and remember: on any big debate, to think that one side is only motivated by ignorance or deceit doesn't understand the debate. Sure, some, even many, on any side of a big debate are ignorant are tendentious, but as with benchmarking this past recession, reasonable people can quibble with vague categorical definitions.

Now let's go through history, find those debates that have been firmly settled in favour of one side, and see if perhaps we were wrong about what the other side was actually on about.

I'll kick open the first can of worms: The Scopes Monkey trial was actually about the teaching of Eugenics, not evolution per se.

Debates are not so much right versus wrong, but superior vs. inferior.

Aretae thinks that a superior way to live is to turn all the hydrogen in the universe into people and cram them onto the United States of America. A cosmic orgasm ensues. All is then good and superior to the alternate.
