Weights

Semi-inexplicably, my weight continues to drop.  Since starting measuring weight on 6/18, I'm down from 227.0 to 206.6 raw weight (lowest since leaving Chicago in September '10), down a pants size (not two, but these 36s are looser than the old 38s) or more, and I've gained an unknown but substantial amount of muscle mass.

One would suspect that my IF/Shangri-la/superslow thing is working.

Normalish daily schedule:

Near 7am:   Drink 1 16 oz. zero-calorie Monster.

Near 11:30 am:  Maybe drink 1 cup of cream, while holding nose.  Then drink water to clear taste/smell
Near 12:30 pm:  Drink 1 32 oz. giant cup of unsweet ice tea, maybe with a lemon
In reality, these two vary massively..and are sometimes skipped

Near 3:30pm:  Drink 1 trenta Starbucks iced coffee, heavy cream..sweetened somehow (pink stuff or sugar)
Near 6:30pm:  Eat a hard paleo dinner:

  • Salad + fatty dressing
  • Big chunk of meat
  • thin fatty sauce (butter or meatfat)
  • veggies (in butter)
Near 9:30pm:  have 1-2 bites of the ice cream that I'm serving for the kids.

So all this time, the Super Slow HIT wasn't giving you enough volume.

(Possibly constrained by the fact that you couldn't take the volume without outside help.)

Dr. Pat,

I'm pretty unclear on what was going on. Whenever I was superslow without diet, I was gaining. Whenever I was diet without superslow, I was losing. I'm inclined to believe that diet+weight was gaining muscle and losing fat at similar rates?

I just checked. The pants I wore today fit, and were 4 inches down from what I wore when I got to San Antonio...and less tight than the ones I was wearing then as well.

How the hell can you restrain yourself to only eating two bites of ice cream? Teach me this sorcery!

Jeff,

1. Not hungry (b/c cream, etc.)
2. In kids bowl
3. Rest put away.

It would be heartless to eat the kids icecream, and it would take work to get the ice cream out again. And I'm not actually hungry.

No magic. Increased muscle mass in your thighs turns into a fat burning machine for your legs, ass and abdomen. Add some cardio to your regimen to work your legs and the belly fat will melt off quick.
Complex carbs, bread, bagles, pasta etc resolve to pure sugar in your blood stream which gets stored as fat. Drop complex carbs out of your diet and your pants will fit better.
Dietary fat clogs your arteries. Complex carbs make you fat. The human ability to create "food" has evolved at a much more rapid pace than the Human metabolism has.
We've found all kinds of ways to make the most common grass allergy on the planet palatable...wheat.
